Before the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, comprised of Lord Justice Treacy, Mrs Justice Jefford and HHJ Munro, Danielle Barden successfully appealed against a sentence imposed by Recorder Hallam QC at Lincoln Crown Court for two offences of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The appeal followed the imposition of a sentence of 5 years, made up of a 4 year sentence of imprisonment with a 1 year extended licence period.

Danielle last week successfully appealed against that sentence. Mrs Justice Jefford, handing down the decision of the Court of Appeal, remarked that the sentence of 4 years was 'manifestly excessive' and thus the custodial element of the defendant's sentence was reduced to one of 3 years and 3 months' imprisonment.
