Ben Keith has been invited to speak at a strategic retreat convened by the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) on "Strengthening UN Human Rights Mechanisms' Responses to Transnational Repression", taking place on 22–23 June 2026.
The retreat will bring together representatives from the United Nations Treaty Bodies and Special Procedures, including Chairs and designated representatives of the ten UN Treaty Bodies, alongside selected UN Special Rapporteurs and other mandate holders whose work frequently engages with issues relating to transnational repression.
The event aims to develop a shared understanding of transnational repression (TNR), including emerging patterns and trends, its impact on civil society actors and diaspora communities, and the application of international human rights standards. Discussions will also focus on strengthening coordination between UN human rights mechanisms and facilitating the development of a joint statement on the issue.
Ben will contribute to a session entitled "Mapping Patterns of TNR & Impact on Victims and Communities", where he will share his expertise on transnational repression in the context of judicial cooperation, Interpol notices, renditions and related cross-border human rights issues. The session will bring together leading experts from around the world to provide insight into the challenges faced by individuals and communities affected by transnational repression.
