Ben Keith will be speaking on freedom of speech at the European Criminal Bar Association Spring Conference.

Ben is speaking on Panel 1, which brings together defence lawyers from the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain, each with direct experience of cases where clients faced legal repercussions for publicly criticising authorities.

Panel 1 is chaired by Katarzyna Dabrowska, alongside Ben Keith, Jaantje Kramer, Christophe Marchand, and Benet Salellas i Vilar.

"The trend is unmistakable. Governments that once tolerated dissent are finding new tools to punish it, from terrorism charges applied to protest organisers, to extradition requests weaponised against political opponents, to INTERPOL notices issued against journalists and activists. These are not hypothetical scenarios. They are live cases on my desk."
