Dr. Alan Mitchell is a practising GP and medical expert. He is an expert member of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and Commissioner at the Scottish Human Rights Commission. In extradition cases, he has inspected prisons and given expert reports to the court and in particular in relation to Russia and India. He has been an expert with the CPT since 2002 and has inspected numerous prisons throughout the Council of Europe, including recently Hungary, Italy and Greece.
The seminar will examine prison conditions cases and the methodology of the CPT as well as Dr. Mitchell’s experience of inspecting for extradition cases.
Ben Keith will chair the seminar and it will take the form of an interview and question time format.
