5 St Andrew’s Hill is pleased to announce that Ben Keith will be speaking at the conference International Transfer of Prisoners, Offenders’ Rehabilitation and Brexit, hosted by Durham University from 13–15 July 2026.

The conference brings together leading academics, practitioners, policymakers and criminal justice experts from across the UK and Europe to examine the evolving relationship between extradition, repatriation, rehabilitation and cross-border criminal justice in the post-Brexit era.

Ben Keith will speak during the panel session entitled Extradition and Repatriation: A Domestic Perspective, chaired by Gemma Davies of Durham University. He will appear alongside Laura Janes of GT Stewart Solicitors and Professor Małgorzata Wąsek-Wiaderek of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

The panel will consider the domestic legal framework governing extradition and repatriation procedures, including the practical and legal consequences of Brexit on cooperation between the UK and European states.

The wider conference programme includes contributions from a distinguished range of international speakers and experts, including Fergus McNeill, Valsamis Mitsilegas, Ana Aliverti, Lorena Bachmaier-Winter and representatives from HM Inspectorate of Prisons, the prison service and academia.

The conference is organised by Durham University in partnership with the Durham European Law Institute and the Durham Centre for Criminal Law and Criminal Justice, with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (UKRI).
