Edmund Burge K.C and Oliver Kirk are instructed to represent a Peruvian national who is accused of murdering his Spanish girlfriend while they were on holiday together in Peru.

The case is understood to be the first to rely on the provisions of s.72 of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, which provides that a person who is habitually resident in England & Wales (whatever their nationality), and who commits a specified violent offence abroad, can be tried for that offence in England. The trial is fixed to take place at Maidstone Crown Court in April 2023 and is due to last 4 weeks.  Edmund and Oliver are instructed by Graham & Co. Solicitors.
