Edmund Burge K.C. and Alex Rooke are instructed to represent a young man who is accused of murdering a friend.  The trial is fixed at Croydon Crown Court in June 2023 and is expected to last 2 weeks.  Edmund and Alex are instructed by EBR Attridge LLP.

Edmund is a specialist criminal advocate, ranked in both Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500.  He was called by Lincoln’s Inn in 1997 and took Silk in 2019.  He is a Recorder of the Crown Court and the County Court, and is authorised to sit at the Old Bailey. He both prosecutes and defends the full range of serious criminal offences, from complex tax and commercial fraud to allegations of murder, serious violence and other organised crime.

Alex maintains a busy 50/50 defence and prosecution practice, and believes this is the best way of learning and retaining the skills applicable to both sides of the courtroom.  He has wide experience of cases involving serious violence, grave sexual offending, fraud and organised crime. He often appears alone against Queen's Counsel and 'senior juniors', and is known for his ability to deal sensitively with clients and witnesses who are having difficulty with the experience of the court process, be that because of vulnerability, cultural difference or simply what is at stake for the client.
