Edmund Burge QC has been appointed to the Criminal Bar Association's Executive Committee as the South Eastern Circuit representative. Edmund’s appointment extends 5SAH’s role within the CBA and the leadership of the profession, as he joins Assistant Secretary John McNamara on the Executive Committee.  John is also Chair of the CBA's Young Bar Committee.

Edmund specialises in offences involving complex tax and commercial fraud, as well as corruption, arms-trafficking & brokering, money laundering and other serious financial crime. He is ranked in Chambers and Partners as a leader in financial crime at the London Bar, and in the Legal 500 for fraud.  He was called by Lincoln’s Inn in 1997, took Silk in 2019, and sits as a Recorder in both the Crown Court and the County Court. 

John is a barrister practising in criminal law and all related areas. He is building a strong Crown Court practice representing defendants charged with a variety of serious criminal matters including fraud, money laundering, violence and sexual offences. He is experienced in defending and prosecuting a range of proceedings arising from the Proceeds of Crime Act  2002 including restraint and confiscation, cash forfeiture, and account freezing and forfeiture hearings.
