5SAH host a panel discussion with Mikołaj Pietrzak, Partner at Pietrzak and Sidor, Dean of the Warsaw Bar and Chair of the UN Voluntary Fund for the Victims of torture. The panel will discuss recent adverse developments to the Polish legal system and judiciary as well as its impact on Extradition and International Law. In particular the reference to the CJEU by Ireland in the case of Celmer will be examined. The event will be chaired by Ben Keith, in discussion with Mikolaj Pietrzak and Rebecca Hill.

Mikołaj Pietrzak is a graduate of the University of Warsaw Faculty of Law and Administration and a holder of the Cambridge University Certificate in English and European Law. He is also a member of the Warsaw Bar Association and, since November 2016, the Dean of the District Bar Council in Warsaw. In 2016, he was appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations as one of the five members of the Board of Trustees of the UN Voluntary Fund for Victims of Torture. The recipient of the Edward Wende award, which recognizes lawyers who dedicate themselves to the fight for justice and defence of the public good.

Rebecca Hill is an experienced criminal advocate with specialist expertise in extradition and a strong interest in human rights and their engagement within the criminal justice system. Rebecca is ranked in Chambers and Partners as a band 2 leader in the field of Extradition at the London Bar (2012 - 2017). 

Ben Keith is a barrister specialising in Extradition, Immigration, Serious Fraud, Human Rights and Public law. He has extensive experience of  appellate  proceeding before the Administrative and Divisional Courts, as well as applications and appeals to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). He has particular expertise in human rights and extradition proceedings in post-soviet states including Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Moldova and Kazakhstan. Ben is ranked in Chambers and Partners as a band 1 leader in the field of Extradition at the London Bar.
