5 St Andrew's Hill is pleased to present our second Autumn Series Seminar on 12 October 2017, presented by our Crime Team. The seminar will be presented by our expert barristers in our Criminal Team and a forensic expert from Cellmark.

Chris May and Claire Cooper: Will discuss their recent prosecution of a 'cold case' based on re-investigation involving extensive contested DNA expert evidence relying on modern techniques. They will give their first-hand advice on how practitioners can prepare for a case involving DNA evidence.

Forensic expert Andrew McDonald: technical lead at Cellmark Forensic Services: The expert will provide an update of the DNA 17 profiling methodology including methods of statistical interpretation for partial mixed profiles; and also an update on Y-STR profiling.

DNA-17 is the term that has been adopted to describe the current generation of DNA profiling methodologies for DNA comparison and to be utilised by the National DNA Database (NDNAD).
