Event Overview

This evening seminar will evaluate the psychological evidence relating to four commonly accepted tests of witness credibility;

  • The credibility of the witness in relation to matters not germane to the litigation (circumstantial evidence relating to a person's character).
  • The consistency of the witness's evidence with what is agreed, or clearly shown by other evidence, to have occurred.
  • Consistency with what the witness has said or deposed on other occasions.
  • The demeanour of the witness (conduct/behaviour/appearance).

This collaboration between 5 St Andrew's Hill and experts from Goldsmiths' Department of Psychology has enabled us to host an event that is far more than a normal CPD seminar. We are offering our peers the chance to not only join us for an event covering new and highly topical areas of interest in the Law but also the opportunity to meet with Goldsmiths Academics who are experts in a range of areas within the discipline. Bringing this level of academic rigor to CPD seminars will no doubt make for lively and progressive debate, enriching everyone's experience in the process.
