David Josse KC prosecuted Peter Nash at Ipswich Crown Court for double murder, instructed by Nicola Rice, East of England CPS Complex Casework Unit.

In September 2022, Nash strangled his wife, Jillu, and then he stabbed his daughter, Louise, in the abdomen whilst she was asleep.

The trial was unusual in that the defendant was convicted by a jury following a 4 week trial at which he chose to represent himself claiming his acts were lawful because his wife deserved “punishment for trespass” and his daughter was his “property”.

On 17th May 2023, Mr Justice Murray passed two concurrent life sentences with a 40 year minimum term.
