Mr Andrew Bird, led by Mr Stephen Nathan QC of Blackstone Chambers, appears on behalf of the HMRC in this landmark case concerning the lawfulness of search warrants and the effect of a Judge’s failure to give reasons for issuing such warrants.
The case involved an investigation by HMRC into Newcastle United Football Club and the tax treatment of payments made to football agents.
Lord Justice Beatson said the "warrants were lawfully issued" and dismissed the club's application for judicial review.
