Extradition to Ukraine discharged.
Barrister Ben Keith acted on a direct access basis for Roman Solodchenko in an extradition request by the Government of Ukraine. On 1 March 2016 Deputy Senior District Judge Arbuthnot discharged Mr Solodchenko from his extradition proceedings on the basis that he would not receive a fair trial in Ukraine under Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). This is the 4th case that Mr Keith has dealt with in the BTA Bank (Kazakhstan) litigation. His previous clients having been discharged in relation to one extradition request from Ukraine and two from the Russian Federation. The Crown Prosecution Service indicated that they will be considering appealing the decision.
