On 21st September 2012, His Honour Judge Edmunds Q.C. sitting at the Crown Court at Isleworth, ordered the stay of proceedings against Robert Stanton-Mayers and three others as an abuse of the court’s process. Mr. Stanton-Mayers, represented by John Warrington, was accused of taking part in a major violent disorder in west London following the Queens Park Rangers v Bristol City fixture on 3rd January 2011. The court held that a fair trial was not possible and that a stay was necessary to preserve the integrity of the criminal justice system due to repeated failings in relation to disclosure on the part of the Crown.
