Additional Information

Before joining Chambers as a third six pupil, Sian completed pupillage at a leading London Criminal set, specialising in criminal defence work. Prior to this she worked for three years at a leading criminal defence firm, and so brings with her an expertise in defence work.

Sian has spent time volunteering for a number of legal charities including Liberty, Fair Trials and Reprieve. She also spent time working on death row cases at the Louisiana Capital Assistance Centre in New Orleans.

Extradition & International

Sian routinely represents Requested Persons in extradition proceedings, from first appearance through to appeal, and in cases where certificates for counsel are granted owing to the complexity or severity of the issues raised.  In addition, Sian has assisted Ben Keith on a number of complex extradition, immigration and public law matters. Most recently, Sian has assisted in a high profile torture case before the African Court of Human Rights and advised on a high profile prisoner transfer case between the US and UK. 

Criminal Defence

Sian has a wealth of experience in defence work and continues to build upon this experience in the Crown, Magistrates and Youth courts on a daily basis.  Sian has experience assisting on cases of serious sexual assault and strives to apply her appreciation of vulnerable defendants and witnesses alike to her own practice. Sian has gained considerable experience representing young people charged with serious offences, most recently being instructed in a multi-handed firearms matter. 

Criminal Prosecutions - Private & Public

Sian continues to build upon her experience prosecuting in the Crown and Magistrates Courts. Sian has prosecuted numerous trials and particularly serious sentences in the Crown Court and has received praise from Judges for her thorough and fair approach. 

Professional Discipline & Regulatory

Sian is routinely instructed by the NMC and HCPC to represent them at tribunals and in the High Court. Sian has received praise from High Court Judges for her thorough Skeleton Arguments.  Following a lengthy secondment with Blake Morgan LLP, preparing cases for the NMC and HCPC, Sian has gained considerable experience in managing a regulatory caseload. Sian’s caseload ranged from preparing cases regarding minor conduct and competency matters, to allegations of serious sexual assault.
