Don Ramble prosecuted Lester Thorpe at Canterbury Crown Court. Lester Thorpe portrayed himself as a successful sports trader with an office in Mayfair.
He conned his victims out of more than £350,000 in order to 'invest' in a number of his schemes. In reality, Mr Thorpe was not investing the money, he was in fact gambling it away. Leaving his victims with nothing.
Mr Thorpe admitted 10 offences of fraud and has been sentenced to serve a total of 54 months in prison.
Mr Thorpe has previous fraud convictions dating back to 2007.
The case was reported by the KentOnline on 12 February 2018, and the full article can be viewed here.
The majority of Don’s practice has involved prosecuting serious and organised crime and substantial fraud. He regularly prosecutes lengthy, complex, multi-defendant cases for the South East Complex Casework Unit and has also established himself as an expert on disclosure issues.
