Edward Munir has a long and varied experience at the Bar. Before returning to the Bar in 1992 Edward was Permanent Under Secretary in what has become DEFRA, in charge of the Department’s Civil and European litigation. As such he was heavily engaged in many cases involving the UK Government.
Edward has appeared in various cases in the Court of Appeal, High Court and County Court in property, family; immigration; and employment cases. Some of the most recent are set out in the cases of note section below.

Edward has published books on fisheries; mentally disordered offenders; and Volume 19 of Halsbury’s Laws on forestry; he has also written numerous articles in legal journals on immigration; mental health; and the Iraq War.

Where it was held that unless there is fraud or a mistake, where there is an express declaration of trust it overrides other equitable rights in the property.

Established for the first time that European Law could override any Act of Parliament which was inconsistent with it.
