A Very Model Briton

Mark Mullins was Junior Counsel (to Jonathan Goldberg QC) in the recent case of Eleonora Suhoviy - described in the Daily Mail as a "Very Model Briton" - whose deportation order was overturned following a reconsideration hearing in the Asylum and Immigration Appeal Tribunal on 18th April 2006.   It was argued that Miss Suhoviy, who first arrived in Britain aged 13, without any English, was an exceptional case, being only the second pupil from her comprehensive school to achieve a place at Oxbridge and that her mother's misplaced ambitions should not prejudice her application to remain. The AIT found that the Home Office's delay in implementing the Deportation Order, made in 2001, amounted to a sufficiently exceptional factor to justify revoking the Order. Interviewed in The Times about the case, Jonathan Goldberg stated that he was able undertake such a case as he was assisted by Mark Mullins who he described as "a very good specialist Junior".
