5 St Andrew's Hill offer two 12 month pupillages each year. We recruit through the summer rounds of the Pupillage Portal. We run a fair selection process that aims to recruit bright candidates who also demonstrate flair and personality. The process comprises two interviews: the first includes both a general interview and a legal problem; the second takes the form of an advocacy exercise.
Both pupillages are funded: £6000 for the first six months and £6000 guaranteed earnings during the second six. Additionally, pupils receive travel expenses for the first six months. Second six pupils can expect to regularly be in court.
Each pupil will have three supervisors over the course of the year and although primarily a criminal pupillage, there are opportunities for pupils to also experience civil work.
Chambers looks to recruit tenants from its pupils and has a strong record of doing so.
