Christopher Williams

Since joining Chambers as a tenant in 2010, Chris has developed a busy Common Law practice with an increasing focus on civil litigation.

Civil Litigation:

Chris undertakes a broad range of civil work and is regularly instructed in interim hearings and trials of small claim, fast and multi-track value. Chris appears in the High Court and the county court in a variety of matters including insolvency proceedings, contractual disputes, landlord and tenant disputes and personal injury hearings. Chris's practice includes the following areas:

Contract and Commercial:

Chris appears on behalf of private individuals and companies in a range of contractual disputes for which he is often instructed to undertake drafting and advisory work. He is also instructed in bankruptcy and winding up petitions and contested petitions in the High Court.

Landlord and Tenant:

Chris is instructed in various residential and commercial tenancy disputes and has experience in mortgage possession proceedings.

Personal Injury:

Including workplace, highway and road traffic accidents

Chris is on the Treasury Solicitor's Baby Barrister Panel and is currently working on litigation arising from the war in Iraq.

Criminal Litigation:

Chris is regularly instructed to defend clients in the Magistrates', Youth and Crown Courts, at both first instance and on appeal. His experience encompasses a wide range of offences including those of dishonesty, violence, drugs and road traffic offences. In addition he is a Grade 1 CPS Prosecutor and is also instructed to prosecute on behalf of the DWP, RCPO, Local Authorities and the Metropolitan police (in cash forfeiture and detention proceedings).

Extradition:

Chris advises and appears on behalf of requested persons in extradition proceedings.
